D to the I to the Y – Elf on the Shelf

So rewind a few days, we were at Target after seeing Santa and while our 3-year-old ran around “Christmas Land” my husband and I contemplated buying the Elf on a Shelf kit. However after looking at the creepy little elf and book, I couldn’t bring myself to join the fad for $30.00. Lets face it, that elf is just darn creepy looking. It only took a minute or two for genius to strike and make me think, I can do that myself! So D to the I to the Y, waive your hands up high (come on, you know you want to sing it) – Elf on a Shelf was born! I set off with my husband in tow to find an elf. It was actually him who found this cute little one for only $3.00 in the Target Christmas section. I don’t know about you, but I would much rather be visited by this cute little elf!

Our elf, Lucy, will be arriving in the mail on Saturday, December 1st. She will come with a letter, especially for my kids from none other than Santa himself. How about that box? Yep, that could have come from the North Pole, right? I bet elves made and decoupaged those snowflakes on there, along with the magic sparkle dust. I bet you are wonder just what that letter from Santa said, well read on friends!

Dear Addy and Levi,

Thank you for coming to visit me on Saturday, I was so happy to see you both! Today I am writing to send you a very special gift, my helper elf Lucy. She will be living with you until Christmas Eve when I come and pick her up in my sleigh!

Lucy is a magic elf! Each night she will fly back to the North Pole to tell me about your days and let me know if you have been naughty or nice. In the early morning, before you wake up, Lucy will fly back to your house and hide, it is your job each day to find her and see if she has a message for you from me. Make sure to watch her close, she tends to get in trouble from time to time as she is a just a little elf!

Now there is only one rule with Lucy – you must never, ever touch her. If you touch her she will lose her magic and will be unable to fly back to the North Pole to visit me every night. If she doesn’t visit me I won’t know whether to put you on the naughty or nice list!

Please friends, keep my little Lucy elf safe, she is very special to me – just like both of you! Remember; make sure to be good – Lucy elf is watching!

Christmas Cheer,

Santa

She doesn’t look like she is going to get in much trouble, does she?

Currently, Lucy elf is boxed up and ready to arrive from the North Pole tomorrow! Make sure to check back for updates throughout December to see what mischief our little elf gets in to! Until then, tell us about your Elf on a Shelf experiences – we would love to hear from you!
