There is just something about Christmas that reminds me of being a kid, making paper chains out of red and green paper so that I could tear off one link every day until Santa came. It is my favorite time of year! And my latest holiday decoration project reminds of those times of paper chains and construction paper snowflakes. Simple, fast and cute… just the way we like it.
All I needed was some Pom Poms, embroidery floss and a large needle To create this garland and it only took like 10 minutes, maybe less.

The first step is to cut the embroidery floss the length I wanted my sting of garland to be and tied a loop at one end. Then thread the opposite end into your large needle and start stringing the pom poms on. I found that it was best to make sure that you push the needed directly through the center so that it is a little hard to push through, this kept the pom poms tight on the string and helped keep them where I wanted them on the string. If there was no resistance when I pushed the needle in I would just try another spot in the pom pom till I found a good one.

After threading on ten or so pom poms I pushed the bunch down to the end of my sting and started spacing them out how I wanted them. I did mine about four to five finger apart but you can make them as close together or as far apart as you want.

I just continued like that until I had reached the end of my embroidery floss and then tied another loop at this end to finish it off.

I also followed a red, white, green pattern and just randomly picked sizes out of my bag without thought. But I think it would be cute to do all the same small size and closer together, all one color, or random colors (no pattern) too. Or even an all white garland would look really nice for a classier look. That is the best part about this project, there is no way to do it incorrectly! Pom Poms are just dang cute and who doesn’t love a pom pom garland?
